Local Author Launches Children’s Time Travel Adventure

25/01/2025 by Digital Media

I vividly remember my great aunts’ sitting room in Beeston which was a perfect 1930’s time capsule and the atmosphere, the sheer weight of the past, left a lasting impression on my young mind, resurfacing as I tried to imagine history not just as dates but real experiences.

I’d always made up stories as a child and studying history at university led me to writing historical fiction in my 20’s. Yet the drawback of historical fiction – that it’s hard to comment on the difference between the past and the present without atmosphere-killing explanation – led me to time travel fiction.  This desire to throw modern characters into history to create a clash between our world and a very alien one, led to Holly’s adventures.

Holly Nightingale, Outside of Time fits into my Deeper Realms time-slip world and is my first children’s book, following history geek Holly Nightingale’s struggle to master her crazy time traveling gift before ancient forces can manipulate it- perfect for fans of Percy Jackson! It was a joy to write and I’m really looking forward to sharing it with you.

I’m a Beeston based writer who has been longlisted for several children’s fiction awards and am author of the Deeper Realms series available on Amazon. You can find me at @ir_storer_writes on Instagram and IR Storer Author on Facebook.

I will be launching my book locally at 1st Chilwell & Attenborough Scout Hut NG9 5JP on Saturday 11 January at 7pm, so please come along and say hello!
