Grab your popcorn, find your seats and put your phones on silent because the Beeston Film Festival is back in person, bigger and better than ever! From April 1st to April 3rd, we’ll be bringing movie magic back to Beeston. We’ve pulled out all the stops to make our triumphant return to the physical realm, with our army of volunteers and interns beavering away behind the scenes to organise it all.
We’ve whittled a staggering selection of over 700 submissions down to the elite, the best of the best: 172 short films and music videos, spread out over 20 sessions. We’ve split them into their respective categories: several Drama sessions, Horror, Crime, Science Fiction, Student Films, Comedy, A Better Place, Women’s Voices and Non-Fiction, with Animated films and Music Videos sprinkled into our Variety Pack sessions.
In addition to all that, this year we have a special session dedicated to films specifically from Iran, with the aim of hopefully showcasing a different country’s films every year.
And for the first time, Beeston Film Festival is going out in true cinematic style thanks to our friends at the Arc Cinema. After the past couple of years of needing to limit ourselves to online events and small computer screens, this year you’ll be able to experience the films as they’re meant to be shown: flickering and dancing on a huge screen before an audience of film-lovers.
Did the films I’ve raved about here over the past few months make it into the festival? Well, I’m happy today that almost all of them did! I wish we could screen more films, but 172 is certainly enough to whet any movie-goer’s appetite. Any more and our eyes would go square or heads would probably explode. There’s such a thing as too much of a good thing, after all.
You can get tickets on Arc’s website https://beeston.arccinema.co.uk/ or from our own website www.beestonfilm.com and our Eventbrite page https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/beeston-film-festival-18533710132 .
We’re looking forward to seeing the lovely people of Beeston at the Arc that weekend! Keep an eye on our website in the week running up to the festival as we’ll be updating our Blog every day that week with posts that’ll get you excited and raring to go!
See you there, folks!
