International football matches take place for a trio of charities

27/06/2022 by Digital Media

AC Wollaton Charity are a unique charity football team, whose sole objective is to raise vital funds for all charitable causes with a particular focus on children with limited life expectancy.

The teams revenue is predominantly generated by holding football matches with established football clubs throughout the Midlands and the UK.

The club, who are based in West Bridgford have raised over £64,000, since their formation in 2017.

The club has a catchment of players in excess of 190, all varying in ability and ages. More importantly every one of them have played some part in their games. During matches their aim is to use 22 players, that basically means one team for the first half and another for the second. Everyone plays and everyone contributes!

Recently, the club took part in their biggest event to date, taking on a team from the Republic of Ireland. The match took place at Pride Park in Derby, where AC Wollaton ran out comprehensive winners 13-3!

This event alone raised over £10,000 where all the monies raised are to be distributed between a trio of charities; Rainbows Hospice, When You Wish Upon A Star and Duchenne UK.

Later this year, they are looking forward to hosting another international game against a team from Scotland.
