Over the past few years we have seen more and more homeless people on our streets and sadly the number is growing, not just here but across the whole of the country. It can be very upsetting to see someone in such a desperate situation, but what is the best way to help?
The best way to assist someone you see sleeping rough is to support one of the charities that are there to help them. Rushcliffe is home to the Friary, working locally to end homelessness – a UK registered charity.
Based at 46 Musters Road, West Bridgford (NG2 7PR), the Friary offers the following:
Practical help
Hot food, Shower, Laundry, Clothing, Food parcels.
Medical help
Doctor, Nurse, Optician, Chiropodist.
Advice and support
Housing, benefits and welfare rights, job seeking, obtaining ID, opening a bank account, IT support, help finding online training courses, CV writing, signposting to Drug and Alcohol Services, plus emotional Support.
the Friary is open Mon, Wed, Fri 08:30 – 13:00 (for all homeless and unemployed) and Tues, Thurs 08.30 – 11:00 (for rough sleepers only)
