Help to feed the homeless with Roschelle Rosa

01/12/2020 by Digital Media

Helping the homeless has always been important to Roschelle Rosa.  With 320,000 people currently homeless in Britain, she knew that she had to do something to help.

Focusing on her own town of Nottingham, Roschelle decided to set up a mobile food business stand.  The mobile stand will serve two purposes, to sell freshly homemade food for 4 days a week and 2 days will be used cooking and serving food for the homeless and less privileged, free of charge.

Already an avid cook, she plans to prepare the food herself, making it available to anyone living on the streets. The Covid-19 pandemic has made the plight of the homeless even worse than normal. Many are being turned out of homeless shelters due to infection yet are provided with no alternative. Whereas some previously had a place to sleep and a hot meal, to many this is now a thing of the past.

This was just one of the deciding factors that made Roschelle set up her Go Fund Me Page. She is now looking for donations to enable her to purchase a mobile food van and basic catering equipment. The rest she will provide personally.

“I have always been aware that people living on the streets have a tough life. I came up with the idea of providing them with a hot cooked meal, touring the town in a food van to make sure that no one gets missed out.”

Already a busy mother, Roschelle intends to run the food van whilst she’s on maternity leave from the care home. she has the energy and passion to commit the time and effort towards making her mobile food business a success.

“I can’t wait to get the van filled up with food, delivering to the local homeless shelters. But the problem is that whereas I can dedicate my own time to prepare, cook and deliver the food, I don’t have the financial means to provide a vehicle or cooking equipment.

My Go Fund Me Page is the first step towards making this dream a reality. I am appealing to everyone that can donate even the smallest amount to help with funding. Locally, we need to do our bit to help lessen the pain of the homelessness crisis.”

As well as homeless shelters, Roschelle aims to provide meals to hostels, women and children safe houses.

“My mission is a simple one – to provide food to less fortunate people who find themselves struggling to survive.”

This is Roschelle’s dream and she has the skill and drive to make it happen. If you would like to help with this cause, you can donate now at Roschelle’s Go Fund Me page, here: https://gf.me/u/y23n6m
