Growing beauty with Incredible Edible in Beeston

16/07/2023 by Digital Media

Have you ever wondered why so much of nature is so beautiful?

Perhaps we need to see & experience beauty in order to want to protect something. Perhaps that is why nature is so beautiful. We depend completely on nature. But we don’t always remember that. We have actively destroyed so much of nature because of profit / greed / fear… So perhaps nature uses beauty to try and get us to appreciate and protect her.

At Incredible Edible, we’re trying to grow beauty in public spaces – runner beans, strawberries, wildflowers (not edible but beautiful…) and we’re trying to get people used to seeing the food they eat being grown around them, rather than only seeing it wrapped in plastic in their local supermarket.

We have some wonderful volunteers who plant, water, strim the grass when it’s getting too high…

However, watering can be tricky so we would really love it if people who live nearby could water the plants (early morning or late evening is best but whenever would be appreciated!) when there’s a dry spell. We like to leave the water in the water butt for children visiting the parks so if you could water the plants directly that would be amazing.

If anyone would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. We’re always trying to figure out how to do things better so if you want to help in any way please email [email protected] or find us on social media. Thank you!
