Greythorn Primary School children plant trees with help from Robin Hood Energy

26/11/2019 by Digital Media

Robin Hood Energy made the children of Greythorn Primary School very happy with the gift of three oak trees to plant in the school’s grounds.

The three oak tree saplings were sourced through the Woodland Trust and donated by the Nottingham based energy company as part of their campaign to plant 300 oak trees in Nottingham.

Sally MacDonald, Head Teacher at the school based in West Bridgford, said when they heard about the scheme, they wanted to join in. “We are always eager at Greythorn to play our part in anything that helps to secure the environment for future generations.

“Our children know that Oak Trees are amongst the most effective absorbers of CO2 and were eager to plant the saplings. They have also helped to fill a gap in the tree line in the school field!”

Mrs MacDonald said that members of Greythorn’s school council helped to plant the trees. “They were really excited that the trees would still be there when they had grown up and perhaps even had children of their own. Hopefully the oaks will thrive for many years and the children are delighted that they will be able to look on the trees in years to come and remember planting them as children.”
