Pupils from Gotham Primary School swapped the classroom for the construction site recently as they enjoyed an exciting visit to Davidsons Homes’ development in Gotham.
Kitted out in hi-vis vests and hard hats, the children were given a unique behind-the-scenes look at how new homes are built at the new Blackberry Gardens site off Leake Road – complete with up-close digger and excavator demonstrations, courtesy of the team at C3 Construction.
Led by Davidsons Homes Contracts Manager Phil Clark, the visit gave pupils an insight into the building process, from the foundations up. Health and Safety Advisor Paul Brant also delivered a fun and informative session on site safety, providing an essential lesson that proved just as memorable as the machinery.
The highlight of the day for many was watching the diggers in action, while the group were also given a sneak preview of the showhomes currently under construction, fuelling their curiosity about how homes come to life.
Stephanie King, Sales Director for Davidsons Homes East, said: “Engaging with our local communities is incredibly important to us, and giving young people the chance to experience construction first-hand is something we’re really proud of. The children from Gotham Primary were enthusiastic, brilliantly behaved, and full of great questions – who knows, we may have even inspired some future builders!”
As well as sparking excitement and curiosity, the day reinforced important messages around safety and teamwork – the foundations of every successful build.
