The myths and stories of Ancient Egypt have always fascinated Calverton based first time author Glennis Goodwin, and holidays and travels down the Nile to Luxor and Karnak only added to her interest.
Over the years she always had it in the back of her mind to write a book concerning the Egyptian gods and their beliefs, but it was only after first moving to New Zealand where she met her husband, David, and on their subsequent return to the UK that she found the time to settle at her computer. Revisiting an idea which had been put aside many years previous, her thoughts eventually settled around the legends detailing the Deities of the Primordial Chaos which the great gods had divided at the beginning of time.
Glennis’ first book “The Eighth Deity” tells the story of Malian, a simple man of the temple. Who on finding his once golden valley plunged into the depths of winter after the stealing of their protector deity Amaunet, is charged by the gods to travel northwards to reclaim her. Many lives depend on his success and taking with him only a small number of supporters, they set off through the frozen vale unaware of the undertaking that awaits them.
One of the pitfalls which they must first overcome is their passage through the Gates of the Dead, while many other hardships await them in the north.
“The Eighth Deity” is published by Blossom Spring Publishing and is available through Amazon.
