Members of Girlguiding Nottinghamshire hit the high notes recently as part of one Ginormous Choir!
Over 300 young members, from the Rainbow (4-7 years), Brownie (7-10 years) and Guide (10 – 14 years) sections, as well as Rangers and young leaders (14-18 years) met at the Albert Hall in Nottingham city centre on Sunday 30 June.
They were supported by over 100 adult volunteers who also joined in the fun. During the day, they learnt a number of songs, including songs from the Greatest Showman, the Lion King and Wonka, before performing them in front of family and friends at the end of the day.
The event was run in conjunction with Music for Everyone, a Nottingham based charity who are committed to making a difference to people’s lives through the creativity and enjoyment of music.
Emily, a Guide from Southwell, said that her favourite part was “that we all came together from across the different parts of the county.” Taya, a Ranger said: “I liked that the songs were chosen to cover a whole range of ages and that there was something for everyone”. Their favourite songs were ‘This is me’ and ‘Whole New World’.
Freya, a Ranger from Forest division, liked meeting new people and singing different songs.
Even the youngest members had a great day, with members of 3rd Attenborough Rainbows saying that their favourite part was the Greatest Showman songs!
Kirstie Pogson, county commissioner for Girlguiding Nottinghamshire, said: “We are very proud of our young members. They have all worked so hard and they sound amazing!”
