trentbarton is offering to help older and vulnerable people to get to the shops and banks during early morning openings by accepting concessionary bus passes before 9.30am on weekday mornings.
The bus passes are normally only valid after 9.30am but with supermarkets and banks introducing special openings exclusively for older customers and other people who are vulnerable to the coronavirus, trentbarton has lifted that rule.
Jeff Counsell, managing director at trentbarton, said: “We provide a vital lifeline for the elderly and vulnerable customers without access to a car.
“When we heard the supermarkets and other organisations were introducing a special hour or so each day for customers who are trying to socially distance themselves from the general population, we recognised we could also help.”
The concessionary passes can be used across all of trentbarton’s services, excluding red arrow. The temporary arrangement will be kept under review as the spread of the pandemic evolves.
