Three ex-England international rugby players will be heading to Beeston next month to host what is hoped to be the start of a regular live sports fanzone and show.
George Chuter, who played as a Hooker for England between 2006-2010, as well as racking up nearly 300 appearances for Leicester Tigers, is hosting a live matchday show alongside fellow England, British & Irish Lions and Tigers players Tim Stimpson and Tom Croft.
The event, called the Sports & Social Club, is being hosted at The Garage in Chilwell, the former bus depot and home of what was Barton Transport, which over the last 10 years has turned into a nationally recognised events venue.
“It’s amazing to be a part of” said Tom Barton, one of the organisers.
“I’ve grown up watching these guys play for England since I was a kid, so to be able to work with them to put on this immersive matchday experience is a real honour. These guys are English rugby royalty and it’s going to be special hearing them speak about their formidable careers, what it’s like to walk out on to the turf at Twickenham, and watching a game alongside them.”
The event will take place on March 19th during the England vs France match, which will be the final climactic game of the 2022 Six Nations series.
Those attending will have the chance to meet the former England rugby stars, chat to them over a pint, and then get set for the live show, where the players will host a night of pre-match predictions, punditry, player insight and laughs before England kick off against France.
Proudly sponsoring the event is Leicestershire’s very own Round Corner Brewing, based in Melton Mowbray. Round Corner has been the world’s most awarded brewery over the last 3 years, and their aptly named Irish Stout “Reverend Hooker” will be the official beer of the Six Nations at The Garage.
Tickets are available through the website www.thegaragechilwell.co.uk and start from £10.
