East Leake WI prepare for Christmas in style!

03/12/2024 by Digital Media

At the East Leake WI meeting in November, 43 of members attended and were getting prepared for the festive season, with a very enjoyable session making glass fusion Christmas decorations under the instruction of Dawn Turner.

The village hall was filled with a buzz of concentration and creatitivity as the ladies designed and assembled their decorations using coloured glass provided by Dawn who then took them to be fired in her kiln. The group are looking forward to seeing everyone’s finished work when they are returned at the December meeting in time for displaying on Christmas trees at home.

The activities this month have included an excellent lunch at The Bull in Royston and a well attended get together for coffee and brunch at Antlers at Manor Farm, East Leake.

Refreshments were available throughout the evening and members had time to socialise, as well taking the chance to sign up for this month’s activities. Everyone is looking forward to the annual Christmas Lunch in December which, this year, will be at Rushcliffe Golf Club.

The next monthly meeting is on Tuesday 10th December at 7.30pm in the Village Hall on Main Street, when it will be eyes down for Chrimo Bingo, which is making a popular return from last year. Festive refreshments and fun promise to make this a very sociable and enjoyable evening.

A programme of speakers is  available on the village website https://east-leake.co.uk/east-leake-womens-institute/ or look out for WI posters on the village noticeboards and outside the library.

New to the village or been here a while? Why not come along as a visitor, enjoy a pleasant evening and  join in and find out more about the group. They offer a warm welcome to a range of events and activities with fun and friendship.
