East Leake Leisure Centre delighted with generosity of locals for Ukraine appeal

29/04/2022 by Digital Media

Since the troubles began in Ukraine at the beginning of March, East Leake Leisure Centre has been operating a drop off point for donations.

Situated by the reception desk at the centre, customers and local people have been gifting a variety of items. Originally, they were being transported out to Ukraine and more recently have been used to support Ukrainian families that are relocating to the area.

General manager of the East Leake Leisure Centre, Jamie Perridge said: ‘A big thank you to everyone that has been extremely generous and donated so far. Charitable donations have started to slow down but there is still a great need to help these people in these difficult times. We are working in partnership with Trident Security and Nottingham University Hospitals to get our donations out to where it’s needed. At times we have had one of our offices completely full to the door with donations while we have been working to pass on our backlog.’

The centre are still accepting donations that can be left anytime while the centre is open. The opening times are: Monday to Friday – 6.30am to 10.00pm. Saturday – 7.00am to 6.00pm and Sunday 8.00am to 7.00pm.

There are a huge list of items which could be gifted to the cause, such as:

  • Toiletries – Toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant (no glass), razors, shaving gel, handwash, sanitary products, adult incontinence products, hand cream, face cream, hairbrushes, and hairbands.
