A pub in Wilford that lost 75% of its trade since the pandemic has bounced back with flying colours after launching a pizza takeaway from the premises.
Y Dough Pizza serves 12-inch sourdough pizzas with a choice of 8 different toppings plus a dessert Nutella pizza. Offering a slightly different menu to the usual selection at the Wilford Lane Pub.
The number of pizza orders now “far outweigh” the gastro pub food options for takeaway which include burgers, fish and chips, pork belly and coq au vin.
“A rustic Italian pizza offering is understandably more suited to takeaway and delivery than gastro pub food, ” said Theo Tsiolas, who runs the pub, in Wilford, with his brother-in-law NIck Procopiou, as well as Cuzina in West Bridgford.
“We’ve were closed for seven months of last year which has been a disaster. We had to create a new concept that would allow for only pick-up and delivery that could carry on into the new year and future.
“We’re incredibly proud of Y Dough and what we have achieved in such a short space of time. We have absolutely no indication of when we can open our much-loved gastro pub, like all restaurants and pubs up and down the country, but even when we do, Y Dough will be here to stay given the truly amazing response we have had,” added Mr Tsiolas.
Pizzas can be delivered within a ten-minute radius of the pub to areas including Beeston, Tollerton, West Bridgford, The Park, Ruddington, Clifton and Wollaton. Or they can be collected after ordering online.
