Phoenix Inham Devils Under 10s, based at Inham Nook, celebrated a historic milestone in December by winning their first-ever league title in the East Midlands YEL Winter Season.
The championship race went right down to the final game, with the Devils securing the league in dramatic fashion thanks to a thrilling 4–2 victory over a formidable AJ Gold side, who themselves were still in contention for the title going into the match.
A superb hat-trick from Nathan, combined with a poacher’s goal from Luke, sealed the unforgettable win and confirmed the Devils as league champions. Coaches Thomas Cherry and Damien Shearer could not be prouder of the squad, whose core group has been together for just over four years, forming a bond and brotherhood that any parent would dream of for their children.
The team’s ethos is simple: hard work. Both on and off the pitch, the coaches instil the belief that success in life comes from effort, commitment, and teamwork — values taught through a sport they all love and cherish.
Following their league triumph, the Devils have been invited to the prestigious YEL Awards ceremony at Theatre Royal in Nottingham, where they will receive their medals and trophy in recognition of their achievement.
Looking ahead, the club is excited about the prospect of promotion to the next division, as well as an upcoming football camp in May. There, the team will compete against sides from across the country and enjoy some well-earned time on the beach.
