David’s Annual Lights Display to raise funds for RSPCA

28/11/2022 by Digital Media

It’s that time of year again and Gamston resident David Carter will be lighting up his home with a fantastic Christmas Display to raise money for charity.

For the past 10 years David has put on a mesmerizing festive Christmas display outside his home to raise money for charity. This will be the 7th year in which he will be raising money for the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre.

Santa Claus will perform the “Grand Switch On” which will take place on Sunday November 27th at 5pm, plus there will be a raffle with excellent prizes and stalls selling Christmas Gifts.

David says “My display will be raising money for the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre to which I am affiliated. All donations go towards helping to care for all the wonderful animals and the running of the centre and they will be very much appreciated.

The Centre is funded independently and receives no financial aid from the RSPCA National Society. Last year despite Covid Restrictions I raised nearly £3,500. This year I would like to exceed this amount especially because of the cost of living crisis our costs have sky rocketed. Also with the pandemic our fundraising has been hit very hard.”

In previous years, David has had amazing feedback from visitors he said: ‘I get asked constantly are you doing again this year, It is now expected that the display goes ahead and it will be no different this year.’

When asked why do I do the display, he said I love doing it and get very excited to see the children’s faces light up and especially when they point at the different lights and effects.

It also amazing how the donations come in, some nights you hardly see anyone and the amounts given really surprise you, last year I had a technical problems so the display was not on but I still raised over £25.00 that evening.

Donations can be made by popping money into the red collection box outside the house or you can simply text to ‘RSPCALIGHTS5’ to 70085 to donate £5, or text ‘RSPCA LIGHTS10’ to 70085 to donate £10, alternately one can use the QR code on the notice board this uses the just giving system and utilises the gift aid.

If you cannot make the November 27th Grand Switch On, don’t worry! David’s Christmas Display will be on daily from 4pm – 9pm until January 1st.
