Local bus operator CT4N will launch a new Shopper bus service around Long Eaton from 24th February 2020. The S16, is a circular service linking Wilsthorpe Meadows and Fields Farm Road areas with Long Eaton Town Centre where buses stop at the Town Hall, ASDA and Tesco. The service runs hourly in each direction during Monday to Friday daytimes.
CT4N Managing Director, Ian Combellack, said: “Both Wilsthorpe Meadows and Fields Farm Road do not currently have any bus services to connect them to the town centre. We’ve had lots of requests from residents in those areas to consider introducing a new service, so are delighted to launch the new Shopper S16. We appeal to local residents to spread the word and make use of the service to help us attract enough new customers to make it a success.”
The route has also been welcomed by local councillors. Councillors Donna Briggs & Howard Griffiths said: “As local Councillors, we’ve been well aware that residents, particularly those on Fields Farm estate, have missed a bus service since the previous route was abandoned a number of years ago. Despite attempts to have a service reinstated, we hadn’t been able to raise any interest with existing service providers in the area. That all changed when CT4N took over a number of local routes, including the 29 service, last October.
“We engaged in a wide consultation with all residents of Fields Farm about their local transport needs and the new S16 timetable reflects what the majority of residents who responded to the consultation told us. We cannot praise the team at CT4N highly enough for working with us on this and wish CT4N every success with the new S16 for Long Eaton”.
Concessionary Passes are accepted, Derbyshire Wayfarer, single and return fares are also available. Customers can buy tickets using cash or contactless credit or debit cards.
