COVID digital recovery grant to give businesses a further boost

07/12/2020 by Digital Media

Rushcliffe Borough Council is giving eligible high street businesses or established business groups another boost with a COVID Digital Recovery Grant that can further help them adapt and improve their online presence or sales.

Small to medium size retail, hospitality, personal care, leisure, tourism and other enterprises in the Borough can now access up to £1,000 over and above existing central government grant support by visiting https://bit.ly/3lQWfuG

Part of the authority’s recovery plan on the pandemic, the funds allow businesses to create or improve a website, seek advice and support on the improving their social media presence or create greater online transactional capability.

It can also aid local retail groups or traders’ associations supporting or enhancing the development of, for example, an online market place for their town or village.

Applicants must be a High Street business who pay their business rates to the Council or receive small business rate relief with between 1.5 and 30 employees.

All appropriate licences and permissions must be in place and full criteria is available on the webpage.

The news builds on the Council distributing over £1.7m of further vital central government grants to nearly 500 eligible businesses in the Borough last month, bringing the total distributed in 2020 to over £21m.

News on further Tier 3 grants for those affected by current restrictions is expected soon.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Deputy Leader Cllr Andy Edyvean said: “We have set up the High Street COVID Digital Recovery Grant as another way to support businesses who are continuing to adapt quickly in light of the pandemic and who may need a further boost to reach out to new and existing customers.

“We know many businesses already have a great online presence, but this has been the most challenging of years and we’re aware hundreds of small to medium sized enterprises need every ounce of support.

“Business owners should apply as soon as possible if they have digital plans in mind. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions on the grants.”
