Cotgrave Country Park receives a helping hand from the Co-op

08/02/2021 by Digital Media

It is all happening for Cotgrave Country Park in 2021!  There will be some new extra special community events.

We are delighted that the Friends of Cotgrave Country Park have been chosen to take part in the Co-op Local Community Fund for the next 12 months.  When Coop members shop at the Cotgrave local Coop for own brand products, the Friends group will receive funding.  Over the twelve months this will provide support for our plans for enjoyable community activities in the Park.

A photo competition seeking photos of the Park in Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn will be the first organised event.  Each season’s pictures will be judged, and prizes given.   Because of the Covid 19 virus, please do not make special visits to the Park and perhaps look out your existing photos.  A selection will be displayed on our website.  An Art competition is planned for later in the Spring.

People will enjoy finding out about wildlife, and there will be Bat Walks in Summer.  Also, Wildflower walks are planned as well as other walks looking at the flora and fauna of the Park.  The Friends want to include more activities and are asking for views from Country Park visitors using the Facebook site.  Again, these will depend on Covid rules, but it is good to have some enjoyable events in our diaries to look forward to.

The Friends group are working with local businesses to seek sponsorship to help fund vouchers for prizes, with sponsors thanked on our website. Any sponsorship will be match funded by income from our Coop Community Fund.

During the Covid restrictions, more people have sought out the Country Park, and hopefully will look at the updated website and our Facebook page. Details of the competitions and rules for entry can be found on both these sites.
