The Broxtowe Community ‘stood together’ at a short ceremony to mark the Holocaust Memorial annual event on Monday 27th January which took place in the Walled Garden at Bramcote Hills Park at 11.00am.
Stand Together was the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2020. This year also marked the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the 25th anniversary of the Genocide in Bosnia.
Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Michael Brown was joined by representatives of faith groups, Youth Mayor Grace Li, students of Alderman White School and the Leader of Broxtowe Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE delivering readings to reflect the theme of this year’s event.
“Standing together makes us stronger against hate and the Holocaust Memorial ceremony is a fitting opportunity to think about how we can come together within our communities and how we can each do our bit to stop the spread of division and hate. I am always moved to see so many people attend our annual event at Bramcote Hills Park and it was great to see people from all ages and faiths in attendance again this year,” said Councillor Brown.
Each year for the past 20 years Broxtowe Borough Council has held a ceremony at Bramcote Hills Park to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
