It has been an exciting start to the year for the Clifton Parish churches!
Pancake Day saw some floury fun and lots of yummy pancakes, whilst the monthly Messy Church sessions have indeed been, well…. Messy!
One Saturday night, St Mary’s church was transformed into a stunning concert venue to raise money for charity and we have even had a visit from the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham.
It was great to extend the weekly Drop-In Café into a warm space with a soup lunch over winter and to welcome Dawn and her great jigsaw swap!
As we’re now approaching Easter, we long for springtime and the hope of new life in our gardens and in our community as blossom begins to form and bulbs break through the hard winter ground. The churches of Clifton are looking forward to the celebrations of new life at Easter.
There are plenty of opportunities to join in the Easter fun and everyone is welcome:
- Thursday 6th April – St Mary’s Church – 7.30pm – Reflections of Holy Week – a special service, similar to “Carols by Candlelight” at Christmas, but with an Easter theme.
- Good Friday (7th April) – Top Shops – 10am-12noon – Churches from around Clifton will come together offering free refreshments, Palm Crosses, Easter books and Easter crafts.
- Good Friday (7th April) – Holy Trinity with St Francis – 4-5.30pm – Easter Messy Church – crafts, activities, the Easter story and a homemade tea
- Easter Monday (10th April) – St Mary’s – 2-4pm – Easter Fun Afternoon – try the Easter Egg Hunt, have a go at bell ringing (age restrictions apply), enjoy homemade cake and drinks in the church garden and much more.
The Drop-In is back to the normal times of 9-11am every Wednesday and all are welcome to come along for friendship, free tea, coffee, toast and cake, and jigsaws!
