The CCII is a group of local partners in Clifton, who have been working together over the last 18 months or so, to think about how we could make life better for young people in the area.
We want to make sure that all the young people in Clifton have the chance to choose their own paths and have lots of opportunities. We know that a lot of different things, like the people they know, the rules they have to follow, the choices they make, the way they are treated, the opportunities they have and the way things are set up, can have a big impact on how their lives turn out.
These things are like the conditions in the system that help young people grow and develop. Right now, the system is working okay for some people, but not for everyone. We can see that it’s not helping all the young people in Clifton do well in school or stay out of trouble. We think we need to change the system to make things better for the young people in Clifton.
To address these challenges, CCII is committed to two guiding principles:
- Collective Action: Real, lasting change requires collaboration from a broad spectrum of people and organisations.
• Youth-Centered Focus: The voices of young people are central to this work, ensuring their perspectives shape the initiative’s goals and actions.
To support young people in Clifton, CCII has set out three primary goals:
- Enhancing Academic Success: Supporting young people in achieving positive educational outcomes.
2. Promoting Positive Behaviour in the Community: Encouraging engagement in pro-social activities and reducing anti-social behaviour.
3. Expanding Post-16 Opportunities: Exploring and increasing accessible options for young people after they turn 16.
On Wednesday 29 January from 5pm to 7pm, CCII will be holding a town hall event in Clifton, inviting local people to engage in the initiative and hear your views on how best we can change the system to support young people and improve their outcomes.
