Chetwynd Spencer Academy pupils help raise awareness

29/10/2025 by Digital Media

In July, Year 6 pupils from Chetwynd Spencer Academy spent an afternoon at Tesco in Toton with Claire (Tesco Toton’s Community Champion) to raise awareness of the summer food donation point in store.

They handed out shopping lists from the charities Trussell and Fareshare to help the customers buy the items for the Food Banks. They also spoke to the customers about how they can help purchase a prepared donation bag which supports struggling families.

The pupils spotted the local Community Police entering the store who just popped in for their lunch and the Community Police generously bought a trolley of items for the Food Bank!

During the summer holidays the larger Tesco Stores have donation stands to support Fareshare and Trussell to reflect the school holiday timings because schools are closed and some families need that little bit extra help over this time.

Claire said: “I would like to thank everyone for the continued kindness and supporting your community without the generosity of Tesco Toton’s customers the food bank would not be able to operate.”
