The Clifton Advice Centre has been a source of help and advice to residents in Clifton, Wilford and Silverdale for over 30 years. We are a registered charity (1058935), based in the Clifton Cornerstone.
Unfortunately, like many other voluntary organisations, we recently lost our funding from Nottingham City Council. This has resulted in changing what we are able to deliver, reducing the number of days available for appointments to 4 days. Appointments can be arranged via telephone on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10.30am and 12.30pm, although you can leave a message on our answering machine, which will be answered as soon as possible. There is also a phone available for you to ring direct to the Advice Centre in a booth on the ground floor of the Cornerstone.
The level of service we are offering is as follows:-
- Welfare Benefits general advice
• Debt advice – such as Council tax, Rent arrears, Gas and Electric arrears etc.
• Assistance with form filling – Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Child Disability Living Allowance (CDLA), Discretionary Housing Payment application (DHP), Council Tax Reduction, Attendance Allowance (AA), Blue Badge application, and other others.
• Foodbank voucher assessment
This list is not exhaustive so please do contact us for assistance.
At this time, we are unable to assist with Appeals and certain other issues but we will always signpost you to those organisations that can help you.
Due to our funding shortage, the administration of the Centre is being carried out by volunteers, including answering the telephone. If you feel you have any experience or skills in answering the telephone, or in assisting people in completing forms, or applying for grants, and would like to support your local Centre, we would like to hear from you – Thank you.
