As part of Calverton Young People’s Centre ‘Spring/Summer Clean Campaign’, a group of young people took part in a community litter pick.
Equipped with hi-viz jackets, bags and litter pickers, young people managed to collect a large assortment of litter, including plastic waste, paper, the odd item of clothing and a ruler.
Young people taking part commented that “they were very proud of keeping their local area clean and tidy. One of the parents supporting them said ‘I will be very proud to see my son featured in the Local News.”
Adrian, Nottinghamshire County Council youth support worker, who led the initiative, said “It’s made a huge difference to the cleanliness of the local area. What’s even more encouraging, other young people have now expressed an interest in the next litter picking campaign”.
Lisa, a Mapperley resident, who was visiting Calverton Leisure Centre, said “it was great to see young people committed to keeping their environment clean and tidy.”
