Young footballers in Calverton are celebrating after hitting the back of the net with a community grant from a regional housebuilder to help fund a new kit.
Calverton Colts Football Club, provides inclusive football coaching for individuals with disabilities was awarded £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Nottingham as part of its Community Champions scheme.
The initiative enables clubs, groups and good causes to apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
The club, which trains a Calverton Miners Welfare on Hollinwood Lane, provides coaching and competitive football for young people between the ages of 8-16 with a range of disabilities.
The cash boost will go towards a new kit, training equipment and FA coaching qualifications to deliver improved sessions.
David Lee, coach for Calverton Colts – Disability Squad, said: “We are all volunteer coaches and committee members who are striving to make the game accessible to everyone in our community.
“This very generous donation from Persimmon Homes means we can purchase a new season kit as well as purchasing additional training equipment. This is a great boost to the team, and we are sure that it will spur the players onto greater achievements.”
