Calverton & Bingham Swimming Club join forces with Lex Leisure

02/04/2020 by Digital Media

Bingham-based Calverton & Bingham Swimming Club has enlisted the support of Lex Leisure to give more of their older swimmers an opportunity to put their own knowledge of swimming into coaching and teaching.

The partnership means that when swimmers reach the age of 16 years and are keen to transfer their skills into a coaching role, Lex Leisure are supporting them with the necessary financing to cover a Level 1 Teaching or Coaching course which can sometimes be an obstacle.

As well as supporting the older swimmers, Lex Leisure was also keen on supporting the growth and development of the club and its members and in 2020 will be sponsoring the Junior Gala’s and the early morning training sessions at Bingham Leisure Centre.

Calverton and Bingham Swimming Club, who have their base at Bingham Leisure Centre are thrilled with how well the new partnership is working. For young swimmers in the club who want to progress their coaching/teaching from poolside helper within the club, to fully qualified teachers supporting youngsters embarking on their own swimming journey, the experience is very rewarding. The invaluable support of the club’s Junior Galas and early morning swimming sessions will mean CABSC can instead use those much-needed funds to finance valuable marketing drives to grow membership numbers.

Dave Radmall, Lex Leisure Bingham Centre Manager said: “Our Learn to Swim Programme nurtures and supports younger swimmers and some of our younger coaches develop an excellent rapport with these swimmers, encouraging them not only to make sure they have a valuable life skill but for some giving them the inspiration to move to club swimming and become a competitive swimmer too”

By forging closer links between the Leisure Centre and Swimming Club, swimmers of any age on the Centres learn to swim programme have access to and an opportunity to go along and try one of the many swimming sessions or water polo offered by the club. Whether they are swimming for fitness, want to compete or play water polo, the club runs several squads including a Masters – a worldwide system of swimming for adults aged 25 years and over with a younger section for 19-24 year olds.

Calverton and Bingham Swimming Club was formed in 2007 following the merger of Calverton Swimming Club and Bingham Swimming Club. It is a competitive swimming club based in Nottinghamshire and has over 300 active members of all ages and abilities with swimmers from Junior standard through to a number of current Senior GB internationals. CABSC also has a highly successful Masters section and a Water Polo section.

The Club’s aim is to provide the highest standard of coaching and the best quality pool time within its catchment area by offering over 30 hours of training time at a variety of pools across the various squads.

As well as being highly successful in the pool, it is a friendly and ‘fun’ family run Club to be part of. If you would like more information please send an e-mail to: [email protected]
