Just across from Boundary Road Park (with its great new bike track) is South Nottingham’s newest Cafe! The Cafe on the Corner at St Paul’s Church is an exciting new venture between church and community, which aims to benefit the local area, whilst serving great coffee and tasty home made treats!
But we are not just about excellent coffee, free WiFi and yummy cakes (including vegan and gluten free); our goal is to become a wellbeing Hub for the local community, and to help combat loneliness and isolation in the aftermath of the pandemic. We want to make the most of our connection with St Paul’s (a modern and inclusive Church of England church) and offer free guided meditation and spirituality sessions, in order to help people find an extra bit of peace, tranquility and hope.
In addition to the above aims, we plan to launch a weekly Social Eating programme every Friday from 6pm. The plan is for the cafe to feed into our own Social Eating waste management agenda, with the support that is already in place from The Community Coaching Company, West Bridgford Secondary School, Jesse Gray Primary, The Grand Nursing Home, ASDA, Edwalton Coop and utilisation of all donations that we receive. So keep an eye and ear out for our launch date very soon!
How can you help?
Still in its infancy, the Cafe on the Corner has grand plans to be open every day to offer our community a place to ‘take a moment’. We are currently led by a small team of dedicated volunteers and for us to grow our hours, we are in need of more volunteers. With more staff, we will be able to reach more people and develop our plans for take away and local delivery as well as focusing on our goals of developing our services for those that maybe cannot afford a snack, meal or hot drink.
Could you offer some of your time? Would you like to make new friends and gain new skills? Maybe you are a local business that would like to try our catering services?
