Businesses welcome back customers to Central Avenue

12/04/2021 by Digital Media

Following months of shops, cafes, salons, barbers, gyms and pubs being closed, today on 12th April they’re finally able to re-open.

Locals are out in the sunshine today roaming the streets in search of their favourite shopping destinations, visiting cafes and having a long-deserved drink from a pub.

West Bridgford’s popular shopping street of Central Avenue is once again busy with life and the hustle and bustle of the everyday life that we remember.

Shoppers can be seen queuing but still adhering to social distancing guidelines and wearing face masks indoors. People are meeting with friends and family to dine outside for lunch outside Portello Lounge and Yumacha amongst other such cafes and restaurants.

Visiting city and town centres was once a regular mundane occurrence but today it’s an exciting experience as it means we’re able to sample a glimpse of normality following the coronavirus pandemic.

Here are some of the rules outlined from 12th April:

  • All shops can open
  • Pubs and restaurants can serve food and drink outdoors
  • Hairdressers, salons and personal care businesses can re-open
  • Indoor gyms and sports facilities reopen for individual exercise or with your bubble/household
  • Members of the same household can take a holiday in self-contained accommodation
  • Holidays abroad are still banned
  • Keep journeys to a minimum and work from home where possible

The next set of rule changes and further lifting of restrictions will begin from May 17th.
