The play area at Bramcote Hills Park has been designed for children of all ages using resident feedback and was opened by the Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe on Wednesday 31 July at 11am.
Following the extensive Bramcote Hills Park Consultation which was carried out last summer, the Council has designed and carried out improvements to the park based on over 1,000 responses from residents.
The play area was last renovated 16 years ago and now, along with the refurbishment of play equipment on site, additional equipment has been added. This includes a zip line, traditional style climbing frames, swings, a climbing net and a dedicated toddler unit. Traditional units have been selected rather than modern units as respondents showed a preference for this. Additional seating and picnic tables have also been added following significant support from residents.
This project received £187,632 in funding from the FCC Communities Foundation and Broxtowe Borough Council’s own budget. The FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for communities through the Landfill Communities Fund. Councillor Sue Paterson, Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe said, “I am glad to open this play area which is sure to bring joy to residents’ families over the summer and beyond. This valuable opportunity to bring resident’s suggestions from the Bramcote Hills Park consultation to life with support from the FCC Communities Foundation will leave a lasting positive impact on the local area.”
