Birds Bakery opens new store in West Bridgford

15/03/2021 by Digital Media

A new Birds Bakery store has opened its doors on Saturday 13th March in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, selling its famous sweet treats, cakes and pastries.

The new store, which is located on Melton Road, is the company’s 62nd store in the East Midlands and will complement Birds’ other West Bridgford shop on Central Avenue.
The two-storey semi-detached Victorian building has been transformed from a former launderette into a café and shop on the ground floor in the bakery’s signature style, including seating for 24 people for when restrictions are lifted.
The family-run bakery, which has been providing freshly baked goods for more than 100 years, chose Melton Road for its new store due to its popular location on a busy main road and local residents.
The new Birds Bakery store was officially declared open with a ribbon cutting ceremony, with help from two members of Rushcliffe’s Community First Responders from the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Mike Holling, sales and marketing director at Birds Bakery, said that the company is delighted to be building on its success across the East Midlands.

“We are really pleased to have opened our latest store in West Bridgford and we look forward to seeing our customers enjoy all our freshly made products. It is currently a very challenging time for the high street, but we are committed to investing in new stores and we can’t wait to see people relaxing in the new seating areas over the coming months when the restrictions begin to ease.

“Our other West Bridgford store on Central Avenue is one of our most popular stores across the region, and we hope our new store will be just as popular for people living close-by in need of a coffee, a pork pie or a sweet treat.
“It was really great to have members from the East Midlands Ambulance Service join us for the opening ceremony. We want to say thank you for all their hard work on the frontline during the pandemic and hopefully they enjoyed the doughnuts as a thanks from us!”
The new 1,195 sq. ft store features a purpose-built hot serving counter, to showcase the bakery’s ‘food to go’ offering, as well as a number of seating areas, café style chairs and tables and comfy sofas in the bay window for a welcoming and pleasant experience – when indoor seating can reopen later this year.

Ten new jobs have also been created for the local area, thanks to the new store, which is open for take-away food and drink 8am-4pm Monday to Saturday.
