Barratt Homes North Midlands has donated a number of mini footballs to a local nursery to boost their excitement following the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Serendipitys Day Nursery, located close to the housebuilder’s Romans’ Quarter development in Bingham, received 25 of the footballs during the World Cup, which took place in Australia and New Zealand.
This tournament had an exciting build up and England’s Lionesses built on their historic Euro 2022 win with an appearance in the final, and Barratt Homes has ensured the nursery’s pupils are enthusiastic about the sport following the games.
Michelle Breedon, Manager at Serendipitys Day Nursery, said: “The children have all loved the outdoor football sports and have been using them at our local park practicing their dribbling and ball control skills.”
Football remains the most popular sport in the world and, for the women’s game in particular, it’s certainly on the up. In a survey of children’s fitness conducted by
Sport England, it was found that there are now 100,000 more girls playing football than there were five years ago.
Barratt Homes’ donation was not only made to encourage young children to stay active, but also to inspire the next generation of Lions and Lionesses.
