Holme Pierrepont County Park and the National Water Sports Centre will now be accessible by bus seven days a week over the summer thanks to a trial part funded by the county council.
Nottingham City Transport’s number 11C service previously only served the country park on Sundays but the Monday to Saturday trial sees one bus an hour running during off-peak times.
The trial will also see the creation of a new service 11A which will run via Lady Bay towards Ambleside and Gamston Morrisons on Monday to Saturday.
The trial has been funded by the UK Government through the Greater Nottingham Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), which is a partnership between Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and local bus operators.
Timetables for the number 11 service remain unchanged and full details of bus times for the 11A and 11C services can be found on the Nottingham City Transport website at www.nctx.co.uk and in the NCTX Buses app.

“The trial extension of the 11C bus service means that visitors to the country park can visit any day of the week without getting in the car and whether it is to attend an upcoming event or to walk around the green surroundings of the park, I highly recommend paying a visit!
“It is a great time to travel by bus with the Government recently announcing the extension of the £2 bus fare cap until the end of October.
“This, along with our summer-long trial extension of the 11C service means that everyone can explore Nottinghamshire for less.
“It is also pleasing that a new route will be created to connect Lady Bay to Ambleside and Gamston Morrisons.
“We remain committed to ensuring that Nottinghamshire residents have strong and sustainable local bus services and our work with Nottingham City Transport on this trial is an excellent example of how we are delivering this.”

The number 11 bus service is one of 18 at risk commercial bus services currently being supported the Greater Nottingham Bus Partnership, services which provide key links to jobs, education, health and leisure opportunities, supporting the local economy.
