The time has finally come for the streets of Beeston to be illuminated on Friday 29 January for the first ever #alightinBeeston event.
The event is to be a celebration of light and the creativity of Beeston. As the sun goes down and the stars come out, the streets of Beeston will light up with light installations and celebrations.
The evening has been a long time in the making for organiser Jeanie Barton and many other helpers plus assistance from the Council.
Originally planned for November, #alightinBeeston was postponed until this January to allow further time for planning to make the event a fantastic celebration.
Plans for a permanent #alightinBeeston neon installation have been approved. The sign will be delivered and installed this January and the Mayor will switch it on during the light night, surrounded by a large variety of impressive temporary light attractions across the length and breadth of Beeston.
#alightinBeeston was first coined by Beeston resident and creative, Jeanie Barton who has been behind many other local events. She said, “It’s been a pleasure seeing this idea grow into such an inclusive community event, with so many residents and businesses, plus the council embracing the idea and running with it. I look forward to seeing just how big and bright this night will be for Beeston and welcoming light artists from near and far.”
