Upon arrival we were instantly hit with their beautiful modern interior. After promptly being seated we were poured some water as we began looking over the drinks menu. Offering a wide selection of drinks from cocktails to draught beers, spirits to soft drinks, Bar + Block have lots to choose from.
During our visit we settled on two of their mocktails: Tiki Mocki and Cherry Bakewell. A tropical mix of mint, orange, pineapple and lime juice, the Tiki Mocki cocktail is perfect for anyone with a bit of a sweet tooth! The Cherry Bakewell is one of Bar + Block’s best sellers and we can certainly see why! With a mix of cherry purée, amaretto flavoured syrup and cranberry, it was delicious! If you’re looking for a mocktail, we highly recommend trying these!
Whilst looking over the menu a member of staff brought over some complimentary beef stock popcorn. I know what you’re thinking, this sounds odd, but we were pleasantly surprised and it’s something we think everyone should try! We started off by ordering some of their tandoori chicken wings. The tender chicken against the subtle tandoori spice created a delicious start to our meal. Next came our mains and we were very excited!
Next came our mains and we were very excited!
The tender and succulent steak had such a delicate flavour against the subtle spice from the chimichurri sauce.
Slowly but surely we were filling up and the thought of something sweet wasn’t tempting, until we saw their chocolate churros sundae!
We ordered their BBQ smoked pork belly with apple slaw, pickles and French fries. Wow! The pork belly was deliciously tender and so full of flavour – we highly recommend. You can’t go to Bar + Block Steakhouse without trying one of their steaks; hand cut by their expert chefs on-site, you can have your chosen steak as big as you like! We decided on their Sirloin 8oz steak paired with beef dripping triple cooked chunky chips. The tender and succulent steak had such a delicate flavour against the subtle spice from the chimichurri sauce. There’s no question about it, this it’s a definite must try – “discover steak done differently.” To accompany our mains, we also ordered a side of onion rings and their Asian crispy beef. As far as onion rings go, these we delicious.
The crispy pulled tender beef tossed in hoisin sauce, cucumber, spring onion, chilli and coriander was incredible and so full of flavour, the perfect additions to our mains. Slowly but surely we were filling up and the thought of something sweet wasn’t tempting, until we saw their chocolate churros sundae. Churros coated in cinnamon sugar, served with vanilla ice cream, salted caramel ice cream, brownie chunks, cream and chocolate toffee sauce – need I say anymore? All I will say is that this is a good sharing dessert, the two of us were defeated! If you couldn’t tell already, IN Magazine had an incredible time down at Bar + Block and we highly recommend the next time you’re in Nottingham City Centre that you pay them a visit. We can’t wait to go back!
