A inspirational young girl from Bingham has braved the chop to raise money for charity.
9-year-old Amelie had idea in mind to donate her hair to charity. So, during lockdown she used the time to grow her hair out so it could be as long as possible to benefit a charity.
In July, her long blonde hair was cut into a short bob and 4 ponytails which were 12 inches long have been sent to the Little Princess Trust – a charity which provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
Amelie has also sent up a JustGiving page to further raise money for the charity. Currently she has raised an incredible £500. Amelie said, “I am also raising money to help fund the wig-making. I am doing this for those who have had such a tough time to have a ray of happiness to brighten up their life.”
Amelie’s Mum Lindsey said, “Mummy, Daddy and brother Louis are super proud of her and she has even inspired her friend to do the same!”
