As the days begin to get shorter and there’s a definite chill in the air, autumn is drawing in, but there’s still plenty of warmth, friendship and activity to be found at The Core Centre in Calverton.
The doors are open Monday to Thursday from 9am until 3.45pm. Whether looking to try something completely new, get a little more active or simply enjoy some friendly company, everyone receives a warm welcome.
There really is something for everyone. Why not give Nordic walking a try? It’s a full-body workout that’s gentle on the joints, a great way to keep moving and suitable for beginners.
For something a little more relaxed, the indoor bowls sessions are a great opportunity to have fun, meet others and enjoy a bit of friendly competition. Or perhaps the games group is more your thing, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy a game of dominoes, cards and other games while putting the world to rights!
For those with a creative side, the art classes are a wonderful way to learn something new, get creative and spend time with others. There’s no need to be an experienced artist — just come along, have a go and see where your creativity takes you. The group is tutor-led, so there’s always a new project!
And if getting a little fitter is on the autumn to-do list, why not try one of the chair-based exercise classes? They’re a great way to keep moving in a supportive and friendly environment, increase core strength and build confidence. There are almost always fresh cakes or sausage rolls for after the session, baked by star baker Margaret!
Perhaps best of all, every activity is just £3 and the first session is completely free! There’s no need to make a big commitment — simply come along and see what you think.
The Core Centre is more than somewhere to take part in activities. It’s a place to meet people, make friends, learn new skills and enjoy being part of the local community. The team — Sam, Becky, Jane and all of the wonderful volunteers — look forward to welcoming visitors and helping them find something they’ll enjoy.
Located on Collyer Road, Calverton, NG14 6JX, the centre has full disabled access and ample free parking, so there’s no excuse not to join in!
