It’s with great sadness that I write this to inform the readers of the passing of Raymond Parker or as many of you may know him better, The Beeston Birdman.
The Beeston Birdman had been a monthly contributor to the Beeston Local News, providing us with informative and fascinating articles about differing collections of wildlife. They arrived with us every month, without fail and emails between Raymond and myself would be exchanged to ensure every single one read perfectly. You only need to visit his website www.beestonbirdman.blog to see and understand his love for birds and wildlife.
His articles would always include a number of fantastic photographs, all taken by Raymond and he would spend copious amount of time down at Highfields or Attenborough Nature Reserve getting the perfect shot.
His knowledge and expertise in all things wildlife will be a huge loss. I will also miss speaking and liaising with him on a monthly basis.
Raymond, who had been a Beeston resident for over 45 years, was well known as he used to volunteer at a local church and also sang in a local choir. He is leaving his wife (Barbara) and 2 children (Ben and Sarah), who I know are very proud of him and his achievements.
By the time this will be published, a close family funeral as well as a gathering for all his friends to remember Raymond will have taken place at Beeston Methodist Church.
Thank you Raymond, you will be missed.
