Radcliffe on Trent celebrated its 10th Village Show at The Grange on Sunday 8th September in glorious sunshine (thankfully) after heavy rain had been forecast.
The village turned out in swathes to enter a wide range of categories from horticulture, photography, baking, knitting to poetry, Lego and Eco crafts across all ages in the community with the hope of getting on the podium and receiving an award. The gates then opened for visitors to enjoy all the show has to offer including the popular dog show, a ride on the traditional carousel, listening to the brass band, dancing with the jive group, as well as a full programme of fun activities to participate in and an array of stalls to visit selling various gift and food items.
The show is very lucky to have such generous sponsors (Michon, Spitfire Homes, Sills and Betteridge and Rushcliffe Borough Councillor, Neil Clarke) this year, who helped to ensure there were some free activities such as the carousel and the circus workshop and also created the iconic branding for the event.
Thank you to local author Troy Jenkinson for his story time and activities and bringing along his giant snail and also to the U3A Jive, Buttercross Veterinary Centre, and Trent District CFR for volunteering their time.
Thank you also to Blidworth Welfare Band, Facepainting by Eileen C, Tooley’s Amusements, Sophia from Storm in a Teacup Circus, MC Productions for the PA and all the wonderful stallholders.
Councillor Sue Clegg, Chair of Amenities on Radcliffe Parish Council and Chair of the Village Show Working Group said: “A massive thank you to our sponsors and especially to all the people involved in making it happen, a lot goes on in the background throughout the year and on the day and it wouldn’t be possible without such committed community volunteers. Also a huge congratulations to all the cup and rosette winners and well done to all that entered. We look forward to seeing you next year!”
Radcliffe Parish Council are planning the next events at Christmas and the Village Show 2025 and would welcome volunteers to help with planning or just on the day. If you’re interested in getting involved please email [email protected].
