The Bookcase in Lowdham is well known in the area for being more than “just a book shop”. Here owner Jane Streeter updates us with recent news and the exciting introduction of Youtube interviews:

We have lots to report from The Bookcase this month! We have extended our opening hours and are now open 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday, and 10am – 1pm on Saturdays.
On Saturday October 3rd we will be joining in with Bookshop Day, a nationwide celebration of books and reading – keep an eye on our website for details of special offers and freebies!
There are so many amazing books being published at the moment including new books by Robert Harris, Captain Tom Moore, Robert Galbraith, and Richard Osman, plus we have a fantastic selection of signed books from Val McDermid, Ken Follett, Ann Cleeves, Cressida Cowell and Victoria Hislop to name a few…
We also have signed copies of House of Music which tells the story of the Kanneh-Masons, the amazing local family of outstandingly talented musicians.
We are really pleased to have started producing a series of filmed interviews which you will be able to watch on YouTube very soon via our website. The first is with acclaimed local author and historian, Catharine Arnold, who is talking about her book Pandemic 1918 – if ever there was a time to read this fascinating book it is right now! Other online interviews to follow will be with local writers/journalists Mike Wilson talking about Poet Laureates, Neil Kendrick on the history of Gedling, Bob Massey with his histories of Arnold and Mapperley, and Clare Hartwell with the new edition of Pevsner’s Nottinghamshire. These are free to watch and there will be a link to Nottinghamshire Hospice if you wish to make a donation to this wonderful local charity.
