West Bridgford Ladies RFC recently held their Annual Awards Presentation for the 2019/20 season. Due to Covid 19, the girls got together via Zoom, and although very different from their usual socials, it was still great for the players to see all their team mates.
This also gave the Club the opportunity to introduce a new award, The Amy ‘Mitchy’ Dolan Trophy, for the season’s top try scorer for the season. The award has been named after Amy Dolan who was instrumental in establishing West Bridgford Ladies from the former Corsairs and Nottingham Rugby team.
Joining West Bridgford was pivotal for the team’s progression and Amy set up an enthusiastic committee at the time which ensured the development and evolvement of the team. The committee provided a pathway to ensure women’s rugby in the East Midlands. Since then, the team has attracted new players in recent seasons and is currently playing in Women’s Championship Midlands 2.
Her committee included Bethan Arthur, Rob Linthwaite, Ali Fazzani, Dilwyn Evans, Ian Marriott, Violet Coppin, Sarah Elliot and Laura Groves.
The winners at the Awards Presentation were:
Forward of the Season – Emily Gauci
Back of the Season -Kim Boultby-Ward
Most improved player of the Season – Harriet Conley
Coaches player of the Season – Jo Lumb
Player’s player of the Season – Jo Lumb
The Amy ‘Mitchy’ Dolan Trophy for Top Try Scorer – Jo Lumb
