5-year-old runs 56 miles for Cancer Research

03/03/2021 by Digital Media

Throughout February, 5-year-old Max from Bingham set himself the challenge of running 2 miles a day to raise money for Cancer Research.

Max hoped to raise £200 for the charity but so far has raised a whopping £1,668 with the total still rising.

Max was even featured on BBC East Midlands Today as part of their Make a Difference series, which celebrates people who are going the extra mile to spread a little joy and help others during the pandemic. Speaking to BBC East Midlands Today, Max said: “I wanted to raise money for Cancer Research UK because my granddad had cancer.

“My favourite bit is when I run past my friends’ houses and they cheer me on.”

On day 28, the final day of his running challenge, Max was escorted by the Rosie May Foundation Pink Tuk Tuk and had great support by locals who put up signs on his route that said, ‘Go Max!’.

On February 28, Max’s father Mark said, “The Grand Finale! Max completed his challenge in style today and he loved every second of it.

“Thank you to everyone that came out and cheered him on in the sun and those that came to the finish line! It made it the most fun run yet, by miles!

“Thank you to everyone that has donated to Cancer Research UK over the last month.”
