2,600 sandbags delivered to those affected by flooding

15/11/2019 by Digital Media

Over 2,600 sandbags were delivered to 80 locations across Rushcliffe to those vulnerable or at imminent risk of flooding as the Borough Council’s waste and Streetwise teams responded swiftly to Thursday’s rainfall.

Crews from both organisations worked continually from midday on Thursday (November 14) through to the early hours of Friday morning to distribute the bags.

Those in need of further support are asked to call 0115 981 9911 or 0115 981 1143 out of business hours.

Residents or business owners looking for advice on how to recover from a flood to a home or premises can find out more on the Council’s website here: https://bit.ly/32RAxx8

The Council’s Housing team also quickly intervened to find bed and breakfast accommodation for families who needed to be evacuated from their homes in Tollerton with 15 properties affected in the area.

Some bin collections on Thursday November 14 were postponed but waste teams shall attempt them as soon as possible.
