The West Bridgford branch of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) joined forces with the West Bridgford Youth Link, who are a local group for young people with disabilities.
This collaboration took place in the West Bridgford Young People’s Centre on Bridgford Road.
During the morning the young people sold cakes they had made and served drinks to raise money for the RNLI.
This event was sponsored by Costa, Marks & Spencer and the Co-op who donated various ingredients. The RNLI also sold souvenirs, books and jewellery.
This coincided with the RNLI’s branch annual all-day street collection in the town centre.
The proceeding week had been warm and sunny. The collection started at 9am as did the rain which continued all morning, sending what few shoppers there were hurrying from shop to shop then home.
The Coffee & Cakes morning raised £218 and the street collection £451 making a total of £669.In view of the weather this was a very good result.
The RNLI would like to thank all who took part both beforehand and on the day – and all who supported these events. Thank you all.
