You may have read of my early experiences as a new member of Woodborough Bridge Club in previous editions of the Local News.
Well, I said I would give you an update as I approach my first anniversary of joining the club.
Thursday evening is greeted with a mixture of anticipation and sometimes frustration as bidding or play go awry.
However, the bad bits are becoming less frequent thanks in large part to the excellent coaching sessions laid on by Ray and Lloyd.
These two experienced players have been good enough to give up a couple of hours on a Friday morning to run coaching sessions for any club member wishing to learn new tactics and improve bidding and elements of play.
Three session before Christmas were well attended and a further four sessions are scheduled over the next couple of months.
The sessions are very practical with an opportunity to practice bidding and playing with specific tactics in mind.
The time taken in preparing and delivering these tutorials is much appreciated by all those who attend.
The three teams that represent the club against local opposition in the Nottingham leagues are holding their own against some stiff opposition – halfway through the season there is still plenty of time for triumph or disaster.
An active club with a balance of experienced players willing to share their knowledge and intermediate and less experienced players keen to improve, you might want to come along and give it a go.
