The West Bridgford School have launched a new mobile app in response to the increased use of mobile devices by parents.
The app provides parents easy access to the latest school information and can send out notifications, whilst on the go.
The school recognised that a majority of its website hits were coming from mobile devices and Google has confirmed that it’s the number-one choice to access the internet.
With 95% of parents owning a smartphone and regularly using apps, the school responded to this trend by working closely with an innovative local app company called ‘TheAppOffice.com’ to develop a West Bridgford School app.
The app allows parents to access the school calendar, key parental information and news, report absences and receive instant notifications from the school in a mobile-friendly format, as well as a host of other features including integration of other web-based services that the school provides.
Mr Deans, deputy head teacher at the school, said: “Apps utilise the native functions of any mobile device, resulting in an engaging and interactive experience.
“Also, it’s faster and allows parents to receive last-minute notices, which is far more effective than emails.
“The school believes that apps are the future for delivering school communication in today’s mobile world and will play a major part in the future for parental engagement.
“The app will continue to evolve to keep pace with mobile technology. The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.”
