David Whitehall took part in the world-famous race with his running buddy Dawn and completed the course in a shade over four hours.
He told the West Bridgford Local News: “With Dawn, my running buddy, we finished together, holding hands as we’d planned, and did it in fourhours and one minute.
“It was never actually about us though. We wanted to raise money for Children With Cancer UK and we did that.
“I’ve raised over £4,500 and Dawn has raised over £7,500. The day itself was amazing.
“We live in what often seems such a dark world, but to see thousands of people – runners, volunteersand police – and an incredible crowd roaring their support, so many people trying to do good for others, was at times quite overwhelming.
“And its true what they say; once you’ve done one, you’ll want to do another one and Dawn and I have caught the marathon bug. Tokyo? New York? We’re making plans.”
