Hundreds of children and parents helping West Bridgford Hockey Club juniors raise £500 for the mental health charity MIND.
The club holds a charity coffee morning each year just before Christmas.
With cake sales, guess the weight of the cake and a Yule Log auction, as well as the mile run, there was plenty going on.
All the junior players ran the five-and-a-bit laps of the hockey pitch – no mean feat for some younger players after a rigorous hour-long training session.
Junior hockey at the club can start from age five years and upwards, but the runners’ ages varied somewhat, with the youngest just a few weeks old, helped along by her two-year-old sister.
Players’ grandparents, coaches and junior players of all ages, along with parents and relatives, also made up the large contingent of ‘athletes’ who contributed to the fundraising effort by joining in, both in the running and the consumption of cakes and hot drinks.
All the cakes were sold or won and the club extends a big thanks to everyone that made this remarkable event possible.
Hopefully everyone will be in training for next year.
