Runners in their thousands will take to the streets for the 2015 Ikano Robin Hood Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday 27 September and they need you! Community groups are urged to put themselves forward to join the volunteer workforce and connect to the core of race day. By joining the volunteer team, you and your group have the chance to make the 2015 event the best yet, plus Race Organiser Sweatshop will offer a donation to your charity, club or cause.
The picturesque new route now includes more of Nottingham’s landmarks than ever before, and you can get front row seats as Route Marshals. Alternatively, volunteers can take responsibility to fuel runners young and old as members of the Route Water Station team, or turn up the volume and cheer thousands across the line as Finish Line Assistants.
Judith Manson, Senior Operations Manager of Race Organiser Sweatshop, comments: “A huge number of runners will take part in this much-loved event, taking in the sights of Nottingham’s historic and beautiful city. They’ll be hoping to raise thousands of pounds for local and national charities, and we need teams of people to encourage them on their journey. Be it sports clubs, running clubs or even voluntary organisations, we’d love to hear from you. The atmosphere on race day is incredible and volunteers really are vital to its success.”
In signing up as a volunteer your team needs to be available for the whole day on Sunday 27th September 2015 and must be aged 16 years of age on race day.
Judith Manson continues: “Sweatshop is dedicated to helping runners be the best they can be and our volunteers can expect the same commitment. We will train you in your role and ensure you have the best race day experience. It will be extremely rewarding and provides a great chance to meet new friends and like-minded people. As well as this, your club, charity or organisation will receive a donation as a thanks from us for your commitment.”
